Apollo Bay Community Working Group is assessing potential water security options for Apollo Bay

23 December 2025

The Apollo Bay Community Working Group (CWG) is currently assessing a range of future water security options for the region.

We established the group in March 2025 to help identify and assess options to help us plan for a sustainable and resilient water future for Apollo Bay, Marengo and Skenes Creek.

Barwon Water and the CWG has been working together to develop a range of options for further consideration based on economic, environmental, readiness, climate risk and social criteria. So far, the list includes options that promote smarter water use, or find more water, to increase supply.

We’d like to thank each member of the CWG for generously sharing their time to provide feedback and share local insights.

In 2026, we’ll continue testing potential options with the CWG and then we’ll reach out to you for feedback, before Barwon Water’s technical experts undertake detailed investigations on the portfolios of options.

We look forward to continuing to work with the CWG and wider community during many future opportunities for people to have their say and contribute to the Apollo Bay: Water, Your Say program.
