3 April 2025

Friends of Murrk Ngubitj Yarram Yaluk

The Friends of Murrk Ngubitj Yarram Yaluk group is back up and running for 2025, helping us with weeding and planting native vegetation, led by Bellarine Catchment Network. Join BCN for the next one!

When: Wednesday 7 May from 10 am – 12 pm

Where: meet at the Northwest corner of Murrk Ngubitj Yarram Yaluk, 280-324 Swan Bay Road, Wallington

Please wear a hat, long pants and a long shirt. BYO water bottle. Morning tea will be provided. No need to register, just turn up!

The Friends of group meets each month to help restore this unique reserve through weeding efforts. It’s also a great way to get early access to this reserve, learn about indigenous and weedy plants, spot some cool birds or meet new people.

The group has seen amazing regeneration outcomes including the germination of local plant species and have some amazing birds using the habitat at the reserve, including wedge-tailed eagles and latham’s snipe.

Opening to the general public

The process to obtain a planning permit to enable construction of a public car park and walking trails is still underway. We’re hoping these works can still be undertaken before the end of 2025, after which we can fully open up the site for general public access.

We’ll keep the community informed via the web page and local newspapers.

We look forward to celebrating the opening of this new cultural and environmental place with you!
