Murrk Ngubitj Yarram Yaluk design award

18 June 2024

Murrk Ngubitj Yarram Yaluk has won the Stormwater Victoria Award for Integrated Stormwater Design at the Victorian Stormwater Conference.

Spiire, the engineers who worked with us on the project, submitted the application and were there to accept the award at the conference in San Remo this week.

The Murrk Ngubitj Yarram Yaluk project has involved us working with Wadawurrung Traditional Owners, the local community and key stakeholders to reimagine our former Bellarine Basin site on the corner of Grubb and Swan Bay Roads, Wallington, into more than 30 hectares of environmental and public open space.

As part of the first phase of the project, Spiire designed the realignment of Yarram Creek and rehabilitation of the wider site. Their design work was driven by the challenge of restoring natural habitat and enhancing biodiversity values into the future.

We are currently working towards opening Murrk Ngubitj Yarram Yaluk to the public including completing the approval process for the construction of the carpark and walking paths.

The Friends Of Murrk Ngubitj Yarram Yaluk has also been established and meets on the first Wednesday of the month between 10 am - 12 noon. Everyone is welcome to attend from our wider community to undertake bush regeneration activities.
