Brine pipeline construction continuing: Scotchmans Road and Clifton Springs

11 December 2025

To effectively manage the brine (saltwater waste) from the upgraded Portarlington Reclamation Plant, we’re constructing a new dedicated brine pipeline to transfer this waste into our existing sewerage network at Clifton Springs.

Scotchmans Road and Clifton Springs – late January to June 2026

Works will occur along Scotchmans Road and in Clifton Springs (Panorama Court, High Ridge Drive and Beacon Point Reserve), as shown in the maps below.

Work will take place Monday to Friday, between 7 am and 6 pm.

If Saturday work is required, this will take place between 7 am and 1 pm.

As part of this work, please note:

  • Works will occur in the nature strips of Scotchmans Road, Panorama Court and High Ridge Drive.
    • Scotchmans Road: As shown on the map below, works will change sides at 135 Scotchmans Road.
  • Traffic: There’ll be some changes to traffic conditions including a partial lane closure on Scotchmans Road and a road closure on Panorama Court for one day.
    • Panorama Court residents who will be impacted by the road closure will be contacted closer to the works with specific timing.
    • Traffic management will be present on site to ensure the safe and efficient movement of pedestrians and vehicles.
  • Noise and dust: There may be increased noise and dust. We’ll aim to minimise impacts to residents and businesses.
  • Driveways: Some properties will have limited driveway access for one day while we lay the brine pipeline. Impacted property owners will be notified seperately about the timing of these works.
  • Reinstatement of impacted nature strips will occur on the same day of works with full reinstatement including seeding occurring in June 2026.
  • Beacon Point Reserve: As part of these works, we’ll establish a temporary site compound for amenities, material storage and vehicles at Beacon Point Reserve, Clifton Springs. We’ll install temporary fencing around the area to ensure public safety.
  • There’ll be no interruptions to your water and sewerage services as part of these works.

We apologise for any inconvenience. Thank you for your patience and understanding while we get these essential works done.

This work is being delivered by Barwon Asset Solutions, a company owned by Barwon Water to deliver high quality asset maintenance and project management services.
