Altered traffic conditions - Bellbrae and Jan Juc

During works, there will be some altered traffic conditions including:

  • Partial lane closures on School Road, Bellbrae, between Bellbrae Primary School and Cemetery Road - during January 2022.
  • Partial lane closures on Cemetery Road, Bellbrae, between the Great Ocean Road and School Road - extended until mid-March 2022.
  • Cemetery Road will be closed to all traffic entering from the Great Ocean Road during this time. Access for local traffic will be via School Road.
  • Great Ocean Road service road Bellbrae / Jan Juc will be closed between late January 2022 and July 2022. Local traffic and emergency vehicles will have access at all times.

Signage, detours, speed reduction zones and traffic management will be in place to ensure the safe and efficient movement of pedestrians, cyclists and vehicles. Please allow extra time to complete your journey safely. We will keep our project web page updated with any changes to road closures and dates.

As part of these works, please note:

  • A temporary site office will be established within the grounds of the Bellbrae Townhall. This will remain in place for the duration of the project.
  • We are working to minimise impact during school drop off / pick up times by completing works along School Road and the junction with Cemetery Road during the summer school holidays (21/22).
  • Please be mindful of construction vehicles entering and exiting School Road, Cemetery Road and the Great Ocean Road service road along the construction zone.
  • We are aware the Great Ocean Road service road is used as a bike and walking path. We are planning to maintain safe access along the service road for pedestrians. Cyclists may need to dismount or detour in sections – we will provide clear signage to assist.
  • There may be increased construction noise and dust along School Road, Cemetery Road and the Great Ocean Road service road. The contractor will aim to minimise impacts to local residents.
  • Access to private properties, and emergency vehicles, will be maintained at all times. If we need to temporarily restrict vehicle access during works, we will be in contact with those residents to discuss temporary parking arrangements ahead of any works commencing.
  • For residents connected to Barwon Water’s network, there will be no interruptions to water or sewerage services as part of these works.

We apologise for any inconvenience. Thank you for your patience and understanding while we get these essential works done.
