About the project

Barwon Water has been successful in removing the large sewer blockage on Bellerine Street, Geelong.

As a final step in the emergency works we need to inspect the pipeline from Roy Street to Bellerine Street in Geelong. Following these works, you may notice our crews in the area as they inspect other parts of the sewer network throughout the week.

The blockage was caused by a build-up of food scraps, fats and oils, non-flushable wet wipes, sanitary items and other rubbish.

The works were complex due to the sewer being approximately 29 metres below ground.

While completing the emergency work, we discovered the pipeline requires follow-up inspections and maintenance.

We will now start developing a plan to deliver this work and look to return to site in late May / early June 2024. We will be in contact to let residents and businesses know more information closer to the works starting.

We apologise for this disruption and inconvenience and thank you for your patience and understanding while we complete these emergency works.

We will keep updating this project page with information as our works progress
(please see our Latest News feed below for the latest work site locations
