Pump station decommissioning - Strachan Street

9 July 2025

As you may be aware, Barwon Water reached a significant milestone in the upgrade of Birregurra's water infrastructure with the completion of a 19-kilometre underground pipeline connecting the town to Colac's water supply in November 2024.

As part of this project, Barwon Water will be decommissioning the old pump station on Strachan Street.

Work is scheduled to commence on 24 July 2025 until 30 July 2025. Works will take place Monday to Friday, between 7 am and 6 pm. If Saturday works are required, this will take place between 7 am and 1 pm.

As part of these works, please note:

  • Works will take place within the road reserve on Strachan Street between Sladen and Skene Street. We will install temporary barriers around the work site to ensure public safety during construction.
  • Traffic management will be present on site to ensure safe and efficient movement of pedestrians and vehicles. There may be single lane closures at times.
  • There will be some temporary loss of parking spots along Strachan Street during construction. We’re sorry for this inconvenience.
  • During construction there may be increased noise and dust. We will aim to minimise impacts to local residents.
  • Access to private property for local residents and emergency services will be maintained at all times.
  • We will reinstate the area upon completion of works, ensuring footpaths and roads are left in good condition.
  • If your water or sewer is to be interrupted, we will notify you separately.

We apologise for any inconvenience. Thank you for your patience and understanding while we complete these essential works.
