New Forrest Water Treatment Plant taking shape

16 May 2023

We’re taking steps to secure Forrest’s water supply into the future with an upgrade of the Forrest Water Treatment Plant.

Work at the site started in October last year and included infill of the water basin to create room to construct the new plant. A new pre-cast concrete panel building housing the water treatment process equipment and operator facilities is also taking shape.

The existing plant was built in the 1990s and had reached the end of its design and service life.

The key components of the new multi-process plant include:

  • a building housing the water treatment process equipment and operator facilities
  • a 740 kilolitre concrete potable water storage tank
  • a 300 kilolitre concrete raw water storage tank

The plant is also being built with bushfire protection measures to protect the water supply in the event of fire.

Construction is expected to be completed by the end of 2023.

We will continue to keep the Forrest community informed on the progress of the this project. Should you have any questions, please contact us on 1300 656 007 or email projects@barwonwater.vic.gov.au
