We’re pleased to advise that we have completed upgrades of the existing Melbourne-Geelong pipeline, which connects Geelong’s storage basins at Lovely Banks with Melbourne’s water supply network west of Werribee.

Major efforts were carried out at Montpellier and Pettavel basins, with cut-in works at Pettavel seeing a section of buried pipe replaced with automated isolation valves and a tee-off to new inlets. Other works included the replacement of a section of the pipeline in the road reserve near the Peak School Road and Farrars Road intersection in Lara.

We have now extended the reach of the MGP to a further 28,000 homes and businesses in the Geelong region. This will help to ensure Barwon Water continues to provide high quality, affordable and secure services for our customers, especially in dry conditions.
