Barwon Water is upgrading the existing Melbourne-Geelong pipeline (MGP) to help safeguard year-round water supply to customers under dry conditions. The upgrade works will ensure Barwon Water can continue to provide high quality, affordable and secure services for our customers.

In late January 2025, construction began to upgrade pipework and pump infrastructure at the Pettavel Basin site at 210-240 Reservoir Road, Waurn Ponds. We expect construction activities on the MGP upgrade to be completed by August 2025.

Between 3 am on Tuesday 13 May 2025 and 5 pm on Wednesday 14 May 2025 (38 hours duration), our crew will be completing construction activities outside of our regular working hours.

As part of these night works, please note:

• During works, there may be increased noise and dust. We will aim to minimise impacts to local residents.
• To ensure our crew’s safety, light towers will be in operation. As a result, you may see some increased lighting around your street and property.
• There will be no interruptions to water or sewerage services as part of these works.
• Access to private property for local residents, businesses, and emergency services will be maintained at all times.
