About the project

Barwon Water is currently planning improvement works to the Queenscliff Feeder Main (water supply) along sections of the Bellarine Highway and into Point Lonsdale. These works will help increase year-round water capacity, ensuring Barwon Water can continue to provide high quality, affordable and secure services to our customers.

The Queenscliff Feeder Main (6.3 kilometres long) is the sole source of water supply for the customers in Queenscliff and Point Lonsdale and therefore it is crucial that it is in a good and reliable condition to maintain the current service levels and avoid future unplanned service interruptions to these towns.

Preliminary site investigations

As part of planning for these works, Barwon Water will be conducting land surveys and geotechnical site investigations at multiple locations along the Bellarine Highway and into Point Lonsdale in the road reserve from 19 February until approximately 20 March 2024 weather permitting. All works will be within the road reserve, and crews will only be in each location for a short period of time.

During this time there will be no interruptions to water or sewerage services.

There will be increased truck and utility movement and minor changed traffic conditions. There will be traffic management in place and a reduced speed limit for your safety and the safety of our crews.

Stages of the project

Barwon Water will be replacing sections of the feeder main in stages over a period of approximately eighteen months.
