A look back on 2022

23 December 2022

Thank you to everyone who has provided feedback on this exciting new project so far. Over 2022 we have continued to progress the design of the Regional Renewable Organics Network (RRON) facility at Black Rock.

The first phase of engagement was an opportunity for the community and industry to tell us what is important and what needs to be considered as this project progresses. Overall, there was general excitement and enthusiasm about the project with support for its benefits. During the consultation period that ran in late 2021, several key themes were identified:

  • understanding how the facility works
  • traffic and vehicle use
  • odour and effluent liquids
  • community participation
  • agricultural benefits; and
  • economic opportunities.

We are currently completing the design and technical assessments which will provide more information about how Barwon Water will meet Environment Protection Authority (EPA) requirements and address key community considerations such as traffic, noise and odour.

In 2023, we will be reaching out to our community and stakeholders to share the outcomes of the assessments including the opportunity for site visits, information sessions and ask questions of the project team.

In the meantime, share your views by adding a pin and comment to the site map, ask a question to the project team or sign up to receive project updates.
