Geelong Sewer Vent Inspections

12 September 2025

Barwon Water is inspecting sewer vents across the region, as part of our ongoing asset renewal program. These essential works will help improve sewerage services to properties and reduce risks of leaks and bursts in the area.

Vents allow air to enter the sewer system, breaking the vacuum and allowing the water to drain smoothly.

Gases that build up in the sewer system can also escape without entering your home.

Inspections are scheduled to begin in October and will take approx 4-5 hours per vent. The work will take place between 7.30 am and 5.30 pm on weekdays.

If a vent is located within your property, we will contact you separately by phone.

As part of this work, please note:

  • You may notice some odour, as we are working within sewerage network. The odour is not harmful to people or pets, and we will work to minimise any impacts to nearby residents.
  • We will reinstate the area upon completion of works, ensuring it is left in good condition.
  • There will be no interruptions to your water and sewerage services as part of these works.

We apologise for any inconvenience and thank you for your patience and understanding while we get these essential works done.

This work is being delivered by Barwon Asset Solutions, a company owned by Barwon Water to deliver high quality asset maintenance and project management services.
