Aireys Inlet - Mains cleaning from 19 May 2025

29 April 2025

Barwon Water will carry out water mains cleaning in the Aireys Inlet water supply area from Monday 19 May, 2025.

This includes Aireys Inlet and Fairhaven.

The cleaning program is expected to take up to 5 weeks and is part of our ongoing commitment to maintaining high-quality drinking water for the community.

Mains cleaning is a routine and proactive measure to protect drinking water quality and safety.

During the cleaning program:
  • drinking water will remain safe to drink at all times
  • there will be no interruption to supply
  • water pressure and flow will not be affected
  • some customers may notice a temporary change to taste or smell of their tap water.

We will closely monitor water quality throughout the supply network to ensure the community has access to the highest quality drinking water.

For general information about how we maintain water quality, visit the Water Quality page on our website.

About the cleaning program

Our Drinking Water Quality Team regularly reviews levels of disinfectant, nitrite, nitrate, and pH (nitrification indicators) in all our chloraminated systems.

Recent testing has shown this is present in the Aireys Inlet system.
