Torquay water tank renewal

16 March 2026

Barwon Water is renewing the Torquay water storage tank on Grossmans Road to ensure it continues to provide reliable water services for the community into the future.

Pre-construction works will take place from 11 March to 14 March 2026, between 7.30 am and 5.30 pm. During this time, an acoustic enclosure will be installed at Barwon Water’s site at Grossmans Road to help reduce noise from the pressure reducing valves during construction.

Construction works are scheduled from 7 April to late October 2026 and will take place between 7.30 am and 5.30 pm, Monday to Friday.

As part of this work, please note:

  • You may notice increased noise from trucks and machinery, as well as dust during the works. We will aim to minimise impacts to nearby residents.
  • Access to driveways and private property will be maintained throughout the duration of works.
  • Some residents may experience lower water pressure for a short period while the tank is drained. This may be more noticeable in homes at higher elevations.
  • As water pressure is restored, customers may notice ‘milky water’. This is caused by tiny air bubbles in the water which settle if the water is left to stand for a short time. The water remains 100% safe to drink.
  • We will reinstate the area upon completion of works, ensuring it is left in good condition.
  • There will be no interruptions to water or sewerage services as part of these works.

We apologise for any inconvenience and thank you for your patience while we complete these essential works.

This project is being delivered by Barwon Asset Solutions, a company owned by Barwon Water to deliver high-quality asset maintenance and project management services.
